Dealing with pain, particularly chronic pain, affects daily activities such as work and socialising, and limits a person’s abilities and their commitment to their own wellbeing. A positive mental attitude can be beneficial for coping and the healing process. In fact, relaxation can accelerate the body’s healing abilities and slow down pain signals to the brain by relieving stress and tension which add to the intensity of the pain.
How I can help
The body can produce its own painkillers, endorphins and enkephalins, which are increased when relaxed. I use and teach methods of self-hypnosis to create a sufficient level of relaxation.
